Krishnagiri: The construction of a new suburban bus stand and a flyover near Pathalapalli in Hosur has significantly hampered traffic flow on the Bengaluru–Krishnagiri National Highway over the past few days. Authorities have diverted vehicles to the service road to facilitate the Rs 40-crore bus stand project and the erection of flyover pillars, resulting in traffic congestion stretching nearly 3 km from the Hosur bus stand to Pathalapalli.
Peak Hour Congestion
During peak hours, the situation worsens, with serpentine queues of two-wheelers and other vehicles stranded on the stretch. Commuters, including school and college students as well as office-goers, face considerable delays as vehicles move at a snail's pace. V Ramesh, a motorist from Hosur, expressed his frustration, stating, "School and college students, and office-goers face delays as vehicles move at a slow pace." He added that the service road is not designed to handle such heavy traffic, making the commute a daily ordeal.
Commuters' Concerns
A daily commuter from Bengaluru remarked, "With all vehicles being diverted to the service road, it feels like we are stuck in a never-ending line." Local residents have also raised concerns about traffic management. S Kavitha, a shopkeeper near Pathalapalli, said, "We understand development is important, but the authorities should plan better. People are suffering every day." The congestion has not only affected travel time but also impacted local businesses and daily life.
Officials' Response
Officials have acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the construction work. A highway engineer stated, "Once completed, the flyover will significantly reduce traffic snarls in Hosur. We request the public to cooperate during this temporary hardship." The flyover project is expected to ease long-term congestion, but for now, commuters must endure the disruptions. Authorities are urged to implement better traffic management strategies to minimize the impact on daily commuters.
