Prayagraj: Panic gripped Kurgav and adjoining areas on Sunday when two trucks coming from opposite directions collided and caught fire on the Kanpur-Varanasi highway.

Details of the Incident

According to police, one truck was moving towards Kanpur from Varanasi, while another oil-laden truck from a refinery was approaching from the opposite direction. The truck heading towards Kanpur allegedly lost balance while trying to avoid a car and collided with the oncoming truck.

Rescue Operation

A joint team of Soraon police and fire brigade rushed to the spot and carried out the rescue operation. No one was hurt in the mishap, police confirmed.

Eyewitnesses reported that timely action by firemen averted a major disaster, as the collision occurred near a petrol pump and both trucks caught fire. The firemen also rescued the drivers and cleaners of the trucks.

The quick response prevented any casualties, and the fire was brought under control before it could spread to nearby areas.
