Two Missing Boys from Palamu Rescued Overnight in Garhwa

In a swift operation, two boys who went missing from a village in Palamu district on Tuesday were traced within hours in a neighbouring district after an overnight police search. Officers credited timely field action for their rescue.

Details of the Incident

Chandan Rajwar, aged 6, and Vishal Baitha, aged 10, residents of Kadal Kurmi village under Mohammadganj police station limits, had gone missing around 10 am on June 9. Their families reported the disappearance to the police approximately 12 hours later, at about 10 pm the same day.

Police Response and Search Operation

Officer in-charge of Mohammadganj police station, Narayan Soren, stated on Thursday that a patrol team was immediately pressed into service. During the search, inputs suggested that the children had wandered off on their own along the Bhim barrage route and strayed into Mohli village under Kandee police station limits in Garhwa district, about 4 km from their native village.

Locals assumed the boys belonged to labourers working at a nearby brick kiln, where they were taken for safety. Police patrolling was intensified in the area throughout the night.

Breakthrough and Rescue

A breakthrough came when someone alerted the patrolling team about a child near the brick kiln, Soren said. Chandan was rescued around 1:30 am on June 10, while Vishal was located early morning. Both children were reunited with their families after the rescue.

The police operation highlights the importance of rapid response and community cooperation in locating missing persons, especially children, in rural areas.
