In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, has arrested two shooters allegedly involved in the murder of a shopkeeper in Ferozepur district. The arrests were made from Jammu and Kashmir, according to a police officer who spoke on Sunday.

Details of the Operation

The operation was a joint effort between the AGTF, Ferozepur Police, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The two suspects, who hail from Rajasthan, were apprehended in Jammu and Kashmir. A Beretta .30 bore pistol along with ten live cartridges of .30 bore were recovered from their possession.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed the development in a post on X, stating, "In a breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in a well-coordinated operation with Ferozepur Police and Jammu & Kashmir Police, apprehended two shooters from Rajasthan involved in the murder of Gurcharan Singh Gaba of Makhu, Ferozepur, from Jammu & Kashmir."

Criminal Background of the Accused

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused have a criminal history involving extortion, robbery, dacoity, theft, and violations of the Arms Act. They were also carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 announced by the Rajasthan Police. The DGP added that further investigation is underway to uncover more details about their activities and connections.

The Murder Incident

Shopkeeper Gurcharan Singh Gaba was shot dead by two unidentified assailants in Makhu town of Ferozepur district on June 1. According to police reports, the attackers arrived at the market on a motorcycle and opened fire at Gurcharan, who later succumbed to his injuries. The arrest of the two shooters marks a crucial step in bringing justice to the victim's family and curbing gang-related violence in the region.
