Varanasi Hosts BRICS Culture Working Group June 4-5

Varanasi, the holy city of India, is set to host a two-day meeting of the BRICS Culture Working Group on June 4 and 5. Guests are expected to arrive in four groups for the event, which aims to foster collaboration among member nations.

India's BRICS Presidency

India is chairing the BRICS meetings this year, welcoming member and partner countries including Brazil, China, India, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia, Russia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. The theme for the summit is 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration and Sustainability.'

Preparatory Meeting Held

A preparatory meeting was convened at the Commissioner's Auditorium on Thursday, chaired by Divisional Commissioner S. Rajalingam and Priyanka Chandra, Director of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The meeting focused on the logistics of hosting the Culture Working Group, including event framework, guest reception, cultural presentations, security arrangements, traffic management, and other essential logistics.

Officers from various departments participated in detailed discussions to ensure seamless organization. The divisional commissioner directed all concerned officers to complete all arrangements in a timely and organized manner, emphasizing the need to showcase Varanasi's rich cultural heritage and tradition of hospitality effectively.

Showcasing Kashi's Cultural Identity

Commissioner Rajalingam stated that the cultural events organized under the BRICS summit will provide a global platform to present Kashi's unique cultural identity. He urged all departments to work in mutual coordination and meet the stipulated deadlines.

Inter-Departmental Coordination

Officers from the Tourism Department, Culture Department, Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department, Police Administration, and other related departments attended the meeting. They provided updates on preparations regarding the venue, transportation, sanitation, lighting arrangements, and guest facilities. The divisional commissioner instructed all departments to work collaboratively and finalize all preparations within the timeline.

The meeting was attended by District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar, Additional Police Commissioner Shivhari Meena, Vice-Chairman of the Development Authority Purna Bora, Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal, ADM Administration Pankaj Kumar, ADM City Rajesh G., ADM Protocol Vinay Kumar, ADM FR Sadanand Gupta, and SDM Pindra Pratibha Mishra, along with other departmental officers.
