In a remarkable incident in Hosapete taluk of Vijayanagara district, a woman delivered twin babies inside an ambulance while being transported to a government hospital. The woman, identified as Shakeela, a resident of Hampinakatti village in the Mariyammanahalli area, went into labour at her home early Wednesday morning.
She was being shifted to the 60-bed Mother and Child Government Hospital in the town when the delivery took place inside the ambulance. Emergency medical technician J Anil Kumar assisted in the delivery and ensured the procedure was carried out safely. According to sources, one baby was born around 4 am and the second at about 4:20 am.
Both the mother and the newborns are reported to be safe. Asha worker Gangamma and ambulance driver Bhasha were present during the incident. The quick thinking and prompt action of the medical team ensured a safe delivery despite the challenging circumstances.
