A woman labourer was seriously injured in a wild elephant attack that occurred in broad daylight at Bajekolli near Siddapur on Thursday. The incident took place around 3:30 PM when Aisha, a 58-year-old resident of Paisari, was walking home after finishing her work at a coffee plantation near Bajekolli.

Details of the Attack

According to officials, a wild elephant suddenly emerged from a nearby plantation and attacked Aisha. She sustained severe injuries to her face, chest, and hand. Fortunately, she survived the attack. Upon hearing her screams, local residents rushed to her aid, forcing the elephant to retreat into the plantation. The quick response of the locals saved her from further harm.

Medical Response and Treatment

The injured woman was immediately shifted to Siddapur Community Health Centre in a private car, where she received first aid. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later referred to the district hospital in Madikeri for further treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable but serious.
