Ahmedabad Experiences Temperature Dip Due to Western Disturbance

Ahmedabad witnessed a notable drop in its maximum temperature on Thursday, largely attributed to the influence of a Western Disturbance. The city's maximum temperature was recorded at 35.7°C, which is 3.3 degrees below the normal level for this time of year. In contrast, the minimum temperature stood at 23.9°C, marking a slight increase of 0.7 degrees above normal.

IMD Forecast and Weather Patterns

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad on Friday is expected to hover around 36°C. The IMD bulletin highlighted that an upper-air cyclonic circulation over southeast Rajasthan and its neighboring areas, coupled with a Western Disturbance manifesting as a trough in middle-level tropical westerlies, persisted throughout Thursday.

The forecast for Gujarat indicates a gradual rise of 2-4 degrees in maximum temperatures over the next four days. Following this period, temperatures are likely to stabilize. However, from April 11 to 15, coastal areas of Gujarat may experience discomfort due to hot and humid air conditions.

Regional Temperature Variations

On Thursday, other cities in Gujarat reported varying maximum temperatures:

  • Rajkot: 37.1°C (highest in the state)
  • Surendranagar: 37°C
  • Kandla: 36.2°C
  • Amreli: 36.1°C

This data underscores the regional disparities in weather patterns across Gujarat, with Ahmedabad remaining cooler compared to these areas.

The Western Disturbance continues to play a significant role in modulating temperatures, offering temporary relief from the typical heat. Residents are advised to stay updated with IMD alerts as conditions evolve.
