BDA Launches Massive Plantation Drive with Civic Support
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), in collaboration with the Garden and Building Association (GBA) and other civic bodies, has initiated a large-scale plantation drive targeting 15 lakh saplings across Bengaluru. This initiative is organized to commemorate Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the city's founder.
Collaboration and Scale of the Initiative
The drive aims to enhance green cover in the city, with saplings being planted in public spaces, parks, and along roadsides. According to a BDA official, the target of 15 lakh saplings is ambitious but achievable with community participation. The GBA and civic bodies have pledged their support in terms of manpower, logistics, and resources.
Impact and Community Involvement
This plantation drive is expected to significantly improve air quality and provide ecological benefits. Citizens are encouraged to participate by adopting saplings and ensuring their survival. The BDA has set up multiple nurseries to supply saplings and will provide guidance on planting and maintenance.
