Elephant Damages Bikes in Gundlupet, Forest Dept Launches Rescue

A wild elephant caused chaos in Gundlupet town early Thursday morning. The animal strayed from the Bandipur Tiger Reserve and entered Marigudi Street.

Elephant Damages Parked Vehicles

The elephant damaged several bikes and scooters parked along the street. CCTV footage from a local resident's house captured the incident clearly.

Kiran, former president of the Gundlupet Town Municipal Council, owns the CCTV system that recorded the event. The video shows the elephant pushing over vehicles during its unexpected visit.

No Injuries Reported

Fortunately, no one was hurt during the elephant's rampage. The incident occurred during early morning hours when few people were outside.

Public movement was minimal at that time, which prevented any loss of life or serious injuries from occurring.

Forest Department Takes Action

Gundlupet Town Range Forest Officer Shivakumar confirmed the details to reporters. He stated the department immediately launched an operation to handle the situation.

The elephant created significant disturbance and damaged multiple two-wheelers, Shivakumar explained. Forest officials are working to drive the animal back to its natural habitat safely.

Current Location and Ongoing Efforts

The elephant is currently located at Heggavadi Gudda in the Kundukure forest range. This area falls within the limits of Bandipur Tiger Reserve.

Forest department personnel will continue their operation on Friday. Their goal is to guide the elephant deeper into the jungle where it belongs.

Shivakumar emphasized the department's commitment to resolving the situation without harm to the animal or residents. The operation focuses on peaceful methods to return the elephant to the forest.
