Gurgaon Braces for Temperature Surge Following Light Rainfall
Residents of Gurgaon experienced a brief respite from the heat with light rainfall on Friday evening, but the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating a return to warmer conditions. Over the next 5-6 days, maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 3-5 degrees Celsius across the city.
Temperature Fluctuations Recorded Across Observatories
Weather data from Saturday reveals a slight dip in minimum temperatures following the rainfall. At the Gurgaon KVK observatory, the minimum temperature dropped to 19.9 degrees Celsius, down from 22.4 degrees Celsius recorded on Friday. Similarly, The NorthCap University weather station reported a minimum of 20.8 degrees Celsius, compared to 24.3 degrees Celsius the previous day.
Maximum temperatures also showed a minor decrease. The Gurgaon KVK observatory recorded a maximum of 38.3 degrees Celsius, down from 39.1 degrees Celsius a day earlier. At The NorthCap University, the maximum stood at 40.1 degrees Celsius, compared to 40.8 degrees Celsius previously.
Weather Systems and IMD Analysis
According to IMD meteorologists, a western disturbance is currently circulating over north Pakistan and adjoining areas in the lower tropospheric levels. Additionally, upper air cyclonic circulations persist over central Rajasthan and over Haryana along with neighbouring regions.
However, these weather systems are currently weak and are not expected to trigger any significant rainfall activity in the coming days. With no active weather system impacting the region, dry conditions are set to dominate the meteorological landscape.
Forecast for Coming Days
The IMD predicts that daytime temperatures will hover between 41 degrees Celsius and 44 degrees Celsius over the next few days, while minimum temperatures may range between 24 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius. This represents a significant warming trend compared to recent readings.
Broader Haryana Weather Patterns
Across Haryana state, temperature trends show a consistent warming pattern. The average maximum temperature has risen by 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to the previous day and remains appreciably above normal by 3.6 degrees Celsius.
The highest maximum temperatures in the state were recorded at:
- Rohtak: 41.9 degrees Celsius
- Sirsa: 41.4 degrees Celsius
- Nuh: 41.3 degrees Celsius
These readings indicate that the warming trend extends beyond Gurgaon to encompass much of the Haryana region.
Residents are advised to prepare for the rising temperatures by staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours, and taking necessary precautions against heat-related health concerns.
