Hyderabad experienced its highest temperature of the season on Thursday, with several parts of the city crossing the 43 degrees Celsius mark for the first time this summer. The mercury soared to 43.4 degrees Celsius in Karwan, making it the hottest location in the city. Chandrayangutta followed closely at 43.2 degrees Celsius, while Amberpet recorded 43 degrees Celsius. Other areas such as Uppal, Hayathnagar, Secunderabad, and Kapra also reported temperatures above 42.5 degrees Celsius, indicating widespread heat across the metropolitan region.
Heatwave Conditions Intensify Across Telangana
The scorching heat continued to grip Telangana, with 20 districts placed under a red alert as temperatures remained significantly above normal. According to data from the weather department, several districts recorded temperatures exceeding 46 degrees Celsius, while heatwave conditions prevailed at 244 locations across the state. This extreme weather has prompted authorities to issue warnings and advisories for residents.
Hottest Districts Recorded
Peddapalli and Suryapet emerged as the hottest districts in the state, each recording a staggering 46.5 degrees Celsius. A long list of districts followed closely, including Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanumakonda, Jagtial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Karimnagar, Khammam, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Mulugu, Nalgonda, and Rajanna-Sircilla, all of which registered 46.4 degrees Celsius. Mahabubabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri recorded 46.3 degrees Celsius, while Adilabad and Warangal touched 46.2 degrees Celsius. Siddipet registered 46.1 degrees Celsius, and Kamareddy and Jangaon recorded 45.9 and 45.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
IMD Forecast and Precautions
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that heatwave conditions are likely to persist over the next few days in several districts, including Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Khammam, and Nalgonda. The department has advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and take necessary precautions, especially during the afternoon hours when temperatures peak.
