Telangana Braces for Intensified Cold Wave, Hyderabad Temperatures to Drop Further
Intense Cold Wave to Grip Telangana, Hyderabad This Week

The state of Telangana, including its capital Hyderabad, is preparing for another intense spell of cold wave conditions in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a further dip in minimum temperatures across the region, intensifying the chill that has persisted for over a week.

IMD Forecast Predicts Sharper Chill

According to an IMD official, the prevailing cold wave is likely to become more severe. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain 2 to 3 degrees Celsius below normal at isolated places over Telangana during the next two days. The weather department anticipates mainly clear skies, but mist or hazy conditions are very probable during the morning and night hours, adding to the wintry feel.

District-Wise Temperature Plunge

Data recorded on Wednesday by the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) paints a clear picture of the ongoing cold spell. Sangareddy district emerged as the coldest, recording a minimum temperature of 7.3° Celsius. It was closely followed by Kumuram Bheem at 7.6° Celsius.

Several other districts experienced significant cold:

  • Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Adilabad, and Siddipet reported minimums between 8°C and 10°C.
  • Large parts of the state recorded lows in the 10°C to 12°C range.
  • Jogulamba Gadwal was the relative warm spot with a minimum of 15.2° Celsius.

Hyderabad Feels the Bite, Especially in Outer Areas

The cold wave's impact is distinctly felt within Hyderabad, with peripheral and western areas experiencing a more pronounced chill. Serilingampally recorded the city's lowest minimum at 9.6° Celsius. Other cooler localities included Rajendranagar (10.4°C) and Malkajgiri (10.7°C).

Core city areas like Secunderabad, Jubilee Hills, and Begumpet reported slightly higher minimum temperatures, ranging between 12°C and 14°C. Santosh Nagar remained the warmest locality in the city with a minimum temperature of 16.7° Celsius.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the cold, especially during the early mornings and late nights. The IMD's alert indicates that the intense conditions are set to continue, requiring people to bundle up and stay warm.
