The leopard was ultimately captured by a dedicated 20-member team comprising experts from the specialized Leopard Task Force and the local forest department. Deputy Conservator of Forests K Paramesh confirmed to TOI that the animal was subdued using a tranquilliser dart administered by skilled personnel. This careful sedation allowed the team to extract the leopard from the house without harm to the animal or the rescuers. Officials have indicated that the leopard is likely to be released back into its natural forest habitat after necessary assessments, adhering to standard wildlife conservation protocols.
Household Discovery and Swift Action
The alarming situation came to light around 10:00 AM when a domestic helper, while cleaning a room in the residence of retired official Suresh, spotted the leopard concealed under a cot. Homemaker Sujatha, who was present at the time, acted with remarkable presence of mind. She immediately evacuated her 90-year-old mother-in-law, Shailaja, from the room and secured it by locking the door. "We alerted the foresters without delay," Sujatha stated, emphasizing the family's quick response to the potential danger.
At the moment of the incident, Sujatha and Shailaja were the only occupants in the house. According to Sujatha, the leopard had managed to enter Shailaja's room unnoticed by the family, underscoring the stealthy nature of the animal's intrusion into the urban setting.

Forest officials revealed that they had received an initial complaint about a leopard sighting in Siddhartha Layout as early as 7:00 AM, prompting them to launch an immediate search operation. The animal, however, temporarily evaded detection and went missing during the initial sweep. The breakthrough came around 10:00 AM when officials received a crucial call from a resident reporting that a leopard had entered a house adjacent to the Teresian educational institution campus in east Mysuru, enabling the focused rescue mission.

Foresters have speculated that the leopard likely strayed from the nearby Chamundi Hills, which is situated less than one kilometer from the incident location.
