Temperature Swings Take Center Stage
On Monday, the sun pushed afternoon temperatures well above normal levels. The maximum daytime temperature reached 23.1°C. This reading sits 5.8 degrees above the seasonal average. It also marks nearly 2 degrees higher than Sunday's maximum temperature.
However, nighttime conditions tell a different story. The minimum temperature took a sudden dive to 4.6°C. This measurement falls 1.4 degrees below normal levels. It also represents nearly 2 degrees lower than the previous day's minimum temperature.
This sudden drop comes just one week after Ludhiana experienced its coldest night of winter. On January 12, the mercury hit 4.2°C. While nights had briefly improved after that record low, Monday's reversal surprised many residents.

Early mornings present additional hazards for Ludhiana residents. Moderate fog restricted visibility to just 200 meters at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. The warmth remains limited to afternoon hours only.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Ludhiana. This alert covers the next four days. Officials advise departments and the public to stay updated on impending inclement weather.
The forecast predicts dense fog at isolated locations on Tuesday and Wednesday. Conditions will shift toward more volatile weather later in the week.
Stormy Weather Ahead
Thursday and Friday will bring thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds to the region. Wind speeds may reach 30 to 40 kilometers per hour during this period.
Further weather disturbances are expected later in the week. Rainfall is predicted at isolated places on January 22. More widespread rain is forecast for January 23.
This weather change will bring daytime temperatures back down to 18°C by Saturday. Night temperatures should hold steady at 5°C for the next three days. They will then rise to 9°C on Friday as cloud cover moves into the area.
