Storm Fury Claims Three Lives in UP's Moradabad and Sambhal Districts
In a tragic series of events, three individuals, including a couple and a 10-year-old girl, lost their lives, and four others sustained injuries in separate storm-related incidents across Moradabad and Sambhal districts in Uttar Pradesh. Police officials confirmed the details on Saturday, highlighting the severe impact of the storm that also caused widespread electricity disruptions and property damage in both districts.
Couple Killed in Moradabad District
In the Mundhapande area of Moradabad district, a devastating incident unfolded on Friday night. Mohd Idris (40), a street vendor, and his wife Fatima (36) were asleep in the courtyard of their home in Dalpatpur village when strong winds led to the collapse of an eight-foot-high wall from a neighboring house. The wall fell directly on the couple, trapping them under debris.
Neighbors quickly responded to the scene, pulling the couple out and rushing them to the district hospital. Tragically, doctors declared both Mohd Idris and Fatima dead upon arrival. The couple leaves behind a large family, including six sons and two daughters, who are now grappling with the sudden loss.
Young Girl Dies in Sambhal District
In a separate incident in Sambhal district, 10-year-old Priyanshi, the only child of her parents, was killed after a neighboring wall collapsed during the storm. The falling wall damaged the roof of her house, leading to her injuries. She was taken for medical treatment but succumbed around 1:30 am on Saturday, according to officials.
Naib Tehsildar Arvind Kumar stated that four other individuals were injured in this incident and are currently undergoing treatment. He assured that assistance would be provided to the affected families as per government norms, emphasizing the need for support during this difficult time.
Widespread Damage and Disruptions
The storm not only resulted in these fatalities but also caused significant disruptions across Moradabad and Sambhal districts. Electricity supply was severely affected in several parts, leaving many areas without power. Additionally, the storm led to extensive damage to properties, including homes and infrastructure, compounding the challenges faced by residents.
