Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to Headline International Day of Forests Workshop
In Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to serve as the chief guest at a significant workshop commemorating the International Day of Forests this Saturday, March 21. The event will take place at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan and is being organized by the Uttar Pradesh Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA).
Key Attendees and Workshop Focus
Joining the chief minister will be Arun Kumar Saxena, the Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Independent Charge), who will be the special guest. The workshop will feature technical sessions centered on the theme 'Forests and Economies'. These discussions will delve into outstanding work and innovative efforts in forestry across various regions of India, the modernization and digitization of forest management, strategies to control human-wildlife conflict in areas adjacent to forests, and the effective utilization of CAMPA funds for afforestation and wildlife conservation.
Government Initiatives and Achievements
During the event, the forest minister highlighted the state government's proactive measures to boost forest-based industries. 'To encourage forest-based industries, our government has simplified the rules, strengthened law and order, provided a fear-free environment to entrepreneurs, and ensured the availability of raw material to these industries,' he stated. As a result, more than 2,467 forest-based industries have been established in Uttar Pradesh over the past nine years.
Additionally, the minister emphasized the state's extensive afforestation efforts, noting that more than 243 crore saplings have been planted in the last nine years. This achievement was made possible through widespread public participation and effective inter-departmental coordination, showcasing a collaborative approach to environmental sustainability.
