Heavily Armed Assailants Storm Bar, Leaving Carnage
In a brutal act of violence that has shaken central Mexico, at least seven people were killed and five others left critically injured after gunmen opened fire inside a bar in Tula during the early hours of Saturday. The local authorities confirmed the grim toll, painting a picture of a targeted and ruthless attack.
The municipal police reported that the incident unfolded around 1:30 am at the bar known as “La Resaka,” situated in the El Llano neighborhood, First Section. According to official reports, a group of heavily armed men stormed the venue and began firing indiscriminately at the patrons inside.
Chaotic Scene and Failed Manhunt
The immediate aftermath was one of chaos and desperation. Security forces rushed to the scene upon being alerted. Four victims were pronounced dead at the scene itself, while the others were hurriedly transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Tragically, three more individuals succumbed to their injuries after arriving at the medical facility, bringing the total death count to seven.
In response, a massive security operation was launched. Federal and state forces were heavily deployed across the area in an attempt to apprehend the perpetrators. However, despite their efforts, the attackers managed to flee the scene successfully. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the deadly shooting, leaving the community in a state of fear and uncertainty.
Ongoing Investigation and Context of Gang Warfare
The area around the bar remains cordoned off as the Prosecutor's Office has initiated formal investigations into the matter. The attack sent shockwaves through the local business community, with many nearby establishments, primarily other bars, choosing to close their doors temporarily.
This tragedy underscores a disturbing trend of insecurity in Tula, which has reportedly emerged as one of the region's major hotspots for violence in recent months. The surge in bloodshed is not random. According to Security Secretary Salvador Cruz Neri, the area is witnessing a violent turf war between two powerful criminal gangs. These groups are locked in a fierce dispute for control over highly profitable illegal activities, primarily fuel theft and drug trafficking. This ongoing conflict is identified as the key driver behind the escalating violence and attacks like the one at La Resaka bar.
