Barabanki Police Seize Drug Trafficker Assets Worth ₹6 Crore

In a major crackdown on narcotics networks, the Barabanki police, in coordination with the district administration, sealed immovable assets valued at over ₹6 crore in the Begumganj area on Saturday. The properties belonged to a notorious drug trafficker and were seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Details of the Action

The operation was carried out against Misbahur Rehman, also known as Ajjan, a history-sheeter from Tikra Murtaza village under Zaidpur Police Station. According to police officials, the accused has been involved in drug trafficking for more than 25 years and amassed substantial illegal wealth through the narcotics trade.

Rehman was detained under the PIT-NDPS (Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act and has been lodged in the district jail since January 9, 2026.

Properties Attached

The attached properties include a residential house and a commercial market constructed on a 558.70 square metre plot in the Nawabganj area. The assets are registered in the name of his wife, Nagmi Khatoon.

This action stems from a long-standing NDPS case and multiple subsequent cases registered against the accused. Rehman is listed as a gang leader of an inter-district drug syndicate and faces more than 20 criminal cases across Barabanki and Lucknow, including charges of drug trafficking, attempt to murder, and violations under the Arms Act.

The police have stated that further investigations are ongoing to identify and attach any additional illegal assets linked to the trafficker.
