Four Army Men Injured in Landmine Blast Near LoC in J&K

JAMMU: Four Army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and three jawans, sustained injuries in an accidental landmine blast while patrolling near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Tuesday.

Details of the Incident

According to an official, the explosion occurred due to the sudden activation of a landmine during an area domination exercise in the forward area of Kalal. The injured personnel were immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Landmine Risks Along the LoC

Forward areas along the LoC are heavily mined as part of the anti-infiltration security grid. However, heavy rains often wash away or displace these mines, leading to accidental explosions. This incident highlights the persistent dangers faced by troops patrolling these volatile regions.

Prior to that, on June 10, two soldiers from the 8 Rashtriya Rifles (8RR) regiment, both from Maharashtra, lost their lives in another accidental blast near the LoC in the Kamalkote area of Uri in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

These successive incidents underscore the inherent risks of military operations in mine-laden border areas, where even routine patrols and exercises can turn deadly due to unforeseen explosions.
