A tragic accident occurred on the Ganga Expressway in Unnao on Friday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of four individuals traveling in a car. The incident took place on the Prayagraj-bound side, where the vehicle collided with the rear of a stationary truck.
Details of the Collision
Two of the occupants died at the scene, while the other two succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a hospital. The crash happened within the Aseevan police station limits. According to eyewitnesses, the car was likely moving at approximately 100 km/h at the time of impact. The force of the collision was so severe that the vehicle was torn apart, with its front portion completely mangled.
The passengers were trapped in their seats and had to be rescued by cutting open the doors. Police identified the deceased as Uday Singh (26), a resident of Jafarpur in Phoolpur; Anupam Gupta (32); and Vijay (25) and Aman (28), both from Babuganj in Prayagraj.
Response and Investigation
Following the incident, a large crowd gathered on the expressway, and bystanders alerted the police. After arriving at the scene, officers used a crane to remove the wrecked car from the road. Police said the accident occurred at around 3:20 pm on Friday. The truck had reportedly been left parked along the roadside due to a mechanical problem.
Meanwhile, the Tata Punch approaching from behind at high speed crashed violently into it. Witnesses said the car was traveling at over 100 km/h, and police believe the driver may have lost control before slamming into the truck.
As soon as the report came in, Station House Officer Pradeep Singh reached the site with a police team and began an on-site investigation. He said the victims' families have been informed.
He added that the case is being examined from all possible angles. A beer bottle was also found inside the car, raising suspicion that alcohol may have played a role in the crash. However, officials said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the postmortem report.
