LUCKNOW: An automobile carrier wagon of a freight train ferrying cars caught fire near Roopaspur in Firozabad district on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4pm in the Linepar police limits area on the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC).

According to officials, the freight train was travelling from Vithalgarh in Gujarat to Changsari in Assam when one of its coaches, loaded with cars, caught fire. The affected wagon was carrying around 8 to 10 four cars, though preliminary reports indicate that nearly 12 vehicles may have been damaged in the blaze.

Multiple fire tenders were deployed and the fire was brought completely under control after an intensive firefighting operation. “No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The burnt coach was later detached from the train, and railway authorities are making arrangements to move it to the yard for further examination,” said CO city Firozabad, Santosh Kumar Singh.
