The flight from Indore to Sharjah, which was scheduled to resume operations on May 1, has been postponed for the fifth time. According to airport officials, the ongoing war in the Gulf region has created significant security concerns, while record heat in both India and the Gulf has deterred leisure tourists and business travelers alike. The resulting drop in passenger bookings has led the airline to press the pause button for now.
Airline delays resumption to June
Although bookings had briefly opened for May, Air India Express has now moved the resumption date to June. However, industry experts remain skeptical about whether operations will actually commence by then, given the persistent geopolitical tensions and extreme weather conditions.
Domestic flights also affected
On the domestic front, Alliance Air has postponed its plans to start direct flights from Indore to Jalgaon and Delhi, which were scheduled to begin on May 2. The suspension of the Jalgaon flight means passengers still lack a direct link to the Maharashtra city from Indore. Meanwhile, postponing the Delhi flight removes a much-needed additional flight option to the national capital.
An airline representative stated that while the operations have been deferred, a new schedule will be announced soon. Passengers are advised to check for updates from the respective airlines.
