The Israeli military announced on Monday that one of its soldiers was killed during operations in southern Lebanon. Sergeant Nehorai Laser of the 601st Combat Engineering Battalion was killed, while another soldier was seriously wounded. Israeli media reports claim the attack was carried out by Hezbollah drones.
Escalation Amid Ceasefire
The Israeli Defense Forces also confirmed the death of Sergeant Noam Hamburger during operations in northern Israel two days ago. The attacks by Israel and Hezbollah have persisted despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire that was intended to halt hostilities.
Background of Conflict
The latest Israel-Hezbollah war began on March 2, after the Iran-backed group fired rockets into northern Israel. This occurred two days after the United States and Israel launched their attacks on Iran. The ongoing violence has raised concerns about regional stability.
As Tel Aviv seeks a Lebanon exemption from any potential Iran deal, the situation remains tense. The ceasefire, which was meant to de-escalate tensions, has been repeatedly violated by both sides.
