Ranchi: The state will get some respite from the ongoing heatwave conditions in the next few days, as moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in 18 districts from Sunday, the Met office said on Saturday.

Weather Forecast for the Coming Days

On Monday, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected at a few places. The weather office also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated places over northeastern and adjoining central parts of the state, including Godda, Sahibganj, Pakur, Dumka, Deoghar, Giridih, Jamtara, Dhanbad, and Bokaro districts, starting from Saturday.

For Sunday, an orange warning has been issued for hailstorms accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (50-60 kmph) at isolated places over northeastern and adjoining central parts of the state, such as Godda, Sahibganj, Pakur, Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dhanbad, Giridih, and Bokaro. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are also likely at isolated places over the rest of the state.

Extended Outlook

On Monday and Tuesday, similar weather conditions are expected to prevail at isolated places over northeastern and central parts of the state, including Godda, Sahibganj, Pakur, Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara, Dhanbad, Giridih, Bokaro, Koderma, Hazaribag, Ramgarh, and Ranchi districts.

Impact on Temperatures

“All these conditions will help in bringing down the maximum temperature by a couple of degrees across the state,” said Abhishek Anand, deputy director of the Met office. During the past 24 hours until Saturday morning, dry weather prevailed over the state. The highest maximum temperature of 43.6°C was recorded in Daltonganj, while the lowest minimum temperature of 19.7°C was recorded in Gumla. Ranchi recorded a maximum of 39.6°C and a minimum of 22.7°C, the Met office said.
