The West Singhbhum police recovered the mutilated body of a 50-year-old woman from a forest area under the Sonua police station limits on Tuesday. The police have not ruled out the possibility of a witch-hunt killing, stating that a post-mortem report will determine the exact cause of death.
Investigation Underway
A detailed investigation is being conducted to uncover the motive behind the murder. Sonua police station in-charge Shashibala Bhengra said, 'Raids are being conducted to apprehend the suspects. Once the accused are arrested, the motive will be known.'
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Sandukui Purty. According to her family, Sandukui was physically and mentally fit and had no disputes with anyone in the village. Prima facie, it appears that the woman was strangulated to death, Bhengra added.
The police are awaiting the post-mortem report for further clarity and are continuing their search for the perpetrators.
