The Punjab Police have dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking networks by confiscating 12 kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, and 14.12 kilograms of heroin. Five individuals were arrested in three separate operations conducted across the state.
Amritsar Operation
Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar announced on Wednesday that two members of an international drug trafficking cartel were apprehended. The suspects, identified as Mohit (19) and Arshdeep Singh (23), were found in possession of 10 kg of ice and 4 kg of heroin. Investigations revealed that the duo was in direct contact with a Dubai-based drug smuggler, coordinating the distribution of narcotics across Punjab's Majha and Doaba regions, as well as Delhi.
Bhullar further disclosed that the mother and sister of the Dubai-based smuggler are currently lodged in Amritsar Central Jail in connection with a previous case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, involving 42 kg of heroin. Mohit had recently returned from Dubai, where he allegedly received training and was assigned the task of transporting heroin and ice consignments into India.
Ferozepur Arrests
In a separate incident in Ferozepur, police arrested a man identified as Om, a resident of Leli Wala village, after seizing 10.12 kg of heroin from his possession.
Checkpoint Seizure
At a checkpoint near Katora village, police arrested two individuals, Aniket Kumar and Sumit Kumar. Authorities seized 2 kg of methamphetamine, one Turkish-made .30-bore pistol, and a motorcycle from them.
Three separate cases have been registered in connection with these incidents. The police continue their investigation to dismantle the drug network and trace further links.
