Patna: Two minor girls died after being struck by lightning in the Parsa Bazar area of Patna district on Friday morning while grazing goats in a field. The tragic incident occurred in Sakraicha village.

Identities of the victims

The deceased have been identified as Shimran Kumari (12), daughter of Gopali Paswan, and Sweety Kumari (10), daughter of Ripu Paswan. Both girls were from the same village.

How the incident happened

According to villagers, the two girls had taken their goats out for grazing when the weather suddenly deteriorated. A lightning strike hit both girls, killing them on the spot. As news of the tragedy spread, a large number of villagers gathered at the site.

Official response

Parsa Bazar SHO Menka Rani said, “The bodies have been sent to PMCH for postmortem. The circle officer has been informed, and a request has been made for assistance to the families under the government’s disaster relief scheme.”

This incident highlights the dangers of lightning strikes, especially during the monsoon season. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions and seek shelter during thunderstorms.
