Nashik: A tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when a woman and three children from a migrant worker family drowned in a reservoir at Nandur Shingote in Sinnar taluka, police reported.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Manisha Joshi (28), her son Kartik (11), and nephews Aditya Shinde (7) and Avinash Shinde (8). The Wavi police have registered an accidental death case.
Details of the Incident
According to Assistant Inspector Ganesh Shinde, the families, originally from Digras in Yavatmal, were traveling to Pune on motorcycles for work. They had halted at Nandur Shingote to wait for another group to proceed together.
The families had been staying in the Nagare Vasti area for the past two days. On Saturday afternoon, Manisha went to a nearby reservoir with the children to wash clothes. Shinde stated that the woman and children apparently slipped into deep water and drowned.
When they did not return for a long time, Manisha's husband Vijayram Joshi and her brother Rahul Shinde went in search of them. Spotting their clothes and slippers on the reservoir's bank, they entered the water and retrieved the bodies.
The police visited the spot after being alerted and carried out a panchnama. Further investigation is underway.
