In a heartening move under 'Operation Muskan', the cyber cell of Bihar Police returned 22 lost cellphones valued at over Rs 4.16 lakh to their rightful owners in the Chandi police station area of Nalanda district on Wednesday. The recovery drive was conducted with the help of technical surveillance and cyber tracking methods.
Recovery and Handover Ceremony
The recovered mobile phones were formally handed over during a dedicated programme held on the premises of the Chandi police station. The event was graced by Hilsa Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kumari Shailja, who oversaw the proceedings. Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, stating that they had almost given up hope of ever getting their devices back after they were stolen or lost.
Police Efforts and Appeals
Speaking on the occasion, DSP Kumari Shailja emphasized that the Bihar Police is continuously striving to address the problems faced by common citizens. She highlighted the importance of such initiatives in building trust between the public and law enforcement agencies. Chandi Station House Officer (SHO) Akhilesh Kumar Jha appealed to the citizens to promptly report cases of lost or stolen phones at their nearest police station as well as on the official cybercrime portal. He noted that timely reporting significantly improves the chances of recovery and helps the police track the devices more effectively.
Operation Muskan's Wider Impact
Operation Muskan is a statewide initiative by the Bihar Police to trace and recover lost or stolen mobile phones. The operation leverages advanced cyber tracking tools and coordination with telecom service providers to locate the devices. This successful recovery drive in Nalanda is part of a larger effort to curb mobile theft and restore confidence among the public.
