A major fraud involving the illegal resale of finance-backed tractors has surfaced in Bijnor district, exposing an organised gang accused of purchasing tractors on loan, forging documents, and reselling them without obtaining no objection certificates from finance companies.
Police Recover Seven Tractors Worth Rs 53 Lakh
During the investigation, police recovered seven tractors worth approximately Rs 53 lakh from various locations across the district. The gang's modus operandi involved buying tractors through loans from multiple firms. After purchase, they allegedly changed number plates, tampered with chassis numbers, and created forged documents to sell the tractors several times in different locations. Once the tractors were sold repeatedly, finance firms were unable to trace the vehicles or recover pending loan instalments.
Complaints Registered and Accused Identified
On April 27, 2026, complaints were registered at Mandawar police station after the firms reported missing tractors. Cases were filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused. Police identified the main accused as Javed, along with associates Sanjeev Kumar and Bhupendra Singh, all residents of Bijnor district. Investigators revealed that Javed had previously been accused of a similar tractor fraud case in Pratapgarh district.
Police Teams Formed to Nab Absconding Accused
All three accused are currently absconding. Two police teams have been formed to track them down, and officials say arrests will be made soon as further legal action continues. Bijnor SP Abhishek Jha stated that the gang operated systematically, and the police are committed to bringing them to justice.
