EPFO Alert: 6.8M Pensioners Must Submit Life Certificate by Nov 30
EPFO: Submit Life Certificate by Nov 30 or Pension Stops

EPFO's Critical Deadline for 6.8 Million Pensioners

India's 6,872,127 pensioners face a crucial November 30, 2025 deadline to submit their Life Certificate to authorized agencies including banks and post offices. Failure to meet this annual requirement could result in suspension of pension payments, according to the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation.

What is Jeevan Pramaan Patra?

Commonly known as the Life Certificate, this document is mandatory for all retired central and state government employees. The certificate serves as proof of existence and must be submitted annually to continue receiving pension benefits through authorized pension disbursing agencies.

The Centre has currently shown no indication of extending the November 30 cutoff date, making timely submission imperative for uninterrupted pension flow.

Step-by-Step Guide to Digital Life Certificate Submission

Pensioners opting for the digital route need to ensure their Aadhaar number is registered with their pension disbursing authority. The process involves:

  1. Downloading both 'AadhaarFaceRD' and 'Jeevan Pramaan Face App' from Google Play Store
  2. Using a smartphone with at least 5 MP front camera for facial scanning
  3. Capturing photograph through the application for biometric authentication
  4. Entering pensioner details including PPO number and Aadhaar information
  5. Submitting the application after verifying all details
  6. Receiving an SMS with download link for the Digital Life Certificate

Consequences of Missing the Deadline

Pension payments will be stopped for those who fail to submit their Life Certificate by November 30. In case of delayed submission, pensioners must ensure their Life Certificate reaches the Central Pension Processing Centers (CPPC) directly. The held-back pension amount will only be released after the CPPC receives and processes the certificate.

Nationwide Digital LC Awareness Campaign

The Central government has launched a comprehensive Digital Life Certificate campaign running from November 1 to November 30, 2025. This initiative involves collaboration with 19 pension disbursing banks and covers 2,000 districts and sub-divisional headquarters across India.

"Nineteen pension disbursing banks will hold camps at multiple locations across 300 cities, including visits to the homes and hospitals of aged, disabled, or sick pensioners," stated an official release. Fifty-seven registered Pensioners' Welfare Associations are assisting in mobilization efforts and camp coordination with banks and India Post Payments Bank.

Tracking Your Digital Life Certificate Status

After submitting the Digital Life Certificate, pensioners receive an SMS containing a transaction ID. The status of the certificate can be tracked through the official Jeevan Pramaan portal at jeevanpramaan.gov.in. The downloaded certificate itself displays the current status, enabling prompt action in case of rejection.

The Digital Life Certificate system leverages Aadhaar's biometric authentication platform. Successful authentication generates the certificate, which is stored in the Centre's Life Certificate Repository for online access by pension disbursing agencies.

Authorized Pension Disbursing Agencies

The network of authorized agencies includes 19 major banks such as State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and Union Bank of India. Other participating authorities include India Post Payments Bank, Pensioners' Welfare Associations, Controller General of Defence Accounts, Department of Telecommunications, Railways, UIDAI and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Pensioners must provide their Pension Payment Order number, Aadhaar number, bank account details, and Aadhaar-linked mobile number during the submission process. The certificate validity lasts one year from the submission date, requiring annual renewal.
