Aman Gupta Opens Up About Shark Tank India Dynamics and Lenskart's IPO

Shark Tank India star Aman Gupta recently shared some frank opinions about his fellow sharks and business valuations. In a revealing interview, the boAt co-founder discussed everything from personal relationships to professional critiques.

Questioning Lenskart's Massive Valuation

Aman Gupta did not hold back when talking about Peyush Bansal's Lenskart. He specifically mentioned the eyewear company's Rs 70,000 crore valuation during their IPO period.

"I think Lenskart could have valued themselves a little better," Gupta stated. He explained that in his view, the company didn't leave enough money on the table for investors. The public seemed to share this sentiment according to his observations.

Gupta noted that Peyush Bansal skipped the current Shark Tank season, likely because of the IPO process. "If he had come on and questioned any pitcher about their valuation, then we would have also pointed out his valuation," Gupta said with a laugh during the conversation.

Evolving Relationships with Fellow Sharks

The dynamics between the sharks have changed significantly over the seasons. Aman Gupta revealed that he initially didn't care for Anupam Mittal during the first couple of seasons.

"I didn't like him for 1 or 2 seasons and then our relationship actually grew," Gupta confessed. Their connection has strengthened so much that they now take family holidays together. Despite occasional on-set disagreements, their bond has deepened from season one through season five.

Namita Thapar earns special praise from Gupta. He called her his favorite shark, describing her as outstanding and authentic. Their partnership has flourished since the beginning, with both sharks frequently collaborating on deals.

Staying Connected with Ashneer Grover

Although Ashneer Grover left Shark Tank India after the first season, Aman Gupta has maintained contact with him. Gupta fondly recalled their time together during that initial season.

"It was outstanding to be with him in season 1," Gupta remembered. He mentioned that memes featuring their on-screen chemistry remain popular even today. People still recall their entertaining banter from those early episodes.

Changing Opinions on Other Sharks

Gupta's views have shifted regarding some of his colleagues. He admitted that Ritesh Agarwal of OYO has grown on him over time.

"Ritesh has started growing on me. I have started liking him lately," Gupta revealed. He observed that Agarwal improved his on-camera presence significantly between seasons four and five.

Production Constraints on Honest Opinions

The candid shark acknowledged that producers sometimes rein in his straightforward nature. "I am told that don't take names because he is a fellow shark," Gupta explained about naming those he doesn't particularly like.

He confirmed that while he could mention names if he wanted to, production guidelines discourage such directness. Gupta did admit that there are a few sharks he doesn't get along with perfectly.

Aman Gupta's openness provides fascinating insights into the real relationships behind Shark Tank India's entertaining facade. His comments reveal genuine business perspectives alongside evolving personal connections among India's most prominent investors.
