RSS Seeks Enhanced Security After Petrol Bomb Attack in Ranchi

Ranchi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has urged the state police to bolster security at its office campus in the Nivaranpur area of the city following an alleged petrol bomb attack by two unidentified men early Wednesday. The incident, which occurred around 12:36 am, did not result in any injuries or a fire, according to police officials.

Attack Details and FIR

An FIR was registered at Chutia police station later in the day by Narsingh Kumar, the prant karyalay pramukh (regional office in-charge) of RSS Ranchi. In his complaint, Kumar stated that CCTV footage from the office, which has circulated on social media, shows two men approaching the premises, igniting a bottle, and hurling it inside before fleeing. The attackers are seen throwing petrol bombs twice, indicating a planned assault. Kumar noted that 20 people reside in the office and requested a police picket, enhanced security, and immediate arrests.

Political Reactions

Senior BJP functionaries in Jharkhand expressed concern over the attack, calling it an attempt to create law and order issues across the state. Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, who visited the spot alongside former Chief Minister Raghubar Das, said, "Prima facie, it looks like a conspiracy to create unrest in Ranchi and the state at large. We won't let that happen." Das demanded swift identification and arrest of the perpetrators, criticizing the state police for perceived inaction. "State police seems to be napping, and crimes are going unabated everywhere in Jharkhand," he added.

Investigation Underway

Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan inspected the office premises, and a forensic team was deployed to collect evidence. "We have started a probe, and anything concrete can be said only after proper investigation. Some bottle parts were found littered on the premises, which are being examined by the forensic team," he said. An NIA team reportedly reached the scene in the evening to investigate, though no arrests had been made as of late Wednesday.
