Bengaluru Rail Disruptions: Yard Remodelling June 16 to Aug 4

Bengaluru: Rail commuters in the city may face a tough few weeks as yard remodelling work at KSR Bengaluru railway station, approved by the railway board, is set to disrupt train services from mid-June to early August.

The scheduled work will cause cancellations of regular services, including express, passenger and Memu trains, forcing travellers and commuters to replan their journeys during this period.

South Western Railway (SWR) zone will undertake the crucial safety upgrade work at the station from June 16 to August 4, officials said. Passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Mysuru are likely to be the worst hit, with five short-distance services on the stretch set to be fully cancelled for 49 days. These services help thousands travel between the cities for work on a daily basis.

The Bengaluru-Mysuru Passenger service, Mysuru-Arsikere Passenger, and the Memu service between Bengaluru and Chamarajpet will not operate from June 17 to August 4, a period of 49 days.

In total, 40 services through KSR Bengaluru station will be cancelled during the period for specific days. For seven days, the Channapatna-KSR Bengaluru Memu will remain unavailable, and the Bengaluru-Ashokapuram Memu will be kept off track for five days. The Ashokapuram-Bengaluru Express will not operate for a three-day period from August 1 to 3.

While only five services remain fully cancelled, seven others will terminate at other stations. Train number 06526 Ashokapuram-KSR Bengaluru Memu will only run until Kengeri for 49 days between June 16 and August 3, impacting hundreds who live in the central and eastern parts of the city.

Train 66591/KSR Bengaluru-Kolar Memu, which is depended upon by hundreds, will terminate at Bangalore Cantonment. The Memu running via Chikkaballapur will not go to KSR Bengaluru for 48 days. Among other long-distance routes, train 16593/16594 KSR Bengaluru-Hazur Sahib Nanded Express will end and start its journey from Yelahanka for 49 days between June 17 and August 4. According to SWR, 36 other services will skip certain stoppages, and five services will be regulated.

This yard remodelling is part of efforts to enhance safety and operational efficiency at the station. Commuters are advised to check updated schedules and plan alternative travel arrangements during this period.
