NRAI Launches Mangaluru, Western Karnataka Chapter

The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) officially launched its Mangaluru and western Karnataka chapter on Thursday at The Avatar Hotel & Convention Centre in Mangaluru. The new chapter aims to foster collaboration among restaurants and hospitality businesses, share industry knowledge, and promote the region's unique culinary identity on a national platform.

Chapter Head Highlights Regional Potential

Prashanth Rao Aroor, who will lead the chapter as its head, stated that Mangaluru and western Karnataka have emerged as one of the country's most promising hospitality markets. He emphasized that the chapter will enable local businesses to work together, exchange best practices, and elevate the region's gastronomic reputation across India.

Scope and Significance of the Chapter

Anurag Katriar, past president and trustee of NRAI, described the launch as significant, noting that the region boasts a strong combination of culinary heritage, tourism potential, and entrepreneurial culture. He explained that the chapter will cover not only traditional restaurants and bars but also formalize catering services, food trucks, kiosks, semi-formal street food vendors, and cloud kitchens. This inclusive approach aims to bring all segments of the food service industry under a unified umbrella.

NRAI Vice-President Pranav Rungta added that Karnataka remains one of India's most progressive hospitality markets. He pointed out that Mangaluru's rich seafood traditions and evolving dining ecosystem present substantial growth opportunities for the sector. The chapter will be led by a core committee headed by Aroor, along with representatives from Mangaluru and Udupi, ensuring broad regional representation.

The establishment of this chapter is expected to strengthen the hospitality industry in western Karnataka by providing a platform for networking, policy advocacy, and skill development. It will also help local businesses navigate challenges and leverage the growing demand for diverse dining experiences. NRAI's expansion into this region underscores the association's commitment to supporting the restaurant industry across India and promoting regional culinary excellence.
