TCS Reports Strong Q1 Performance

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services company, posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 13,349 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, marking a 4.61% increase from Rs 12,760 crore in the same period last year, as per a company filing with the stock exchanges.

Revenue Growth and Margin Details

The company's revenue from operations grew 5.2% year-on-year to Rs 65,890 crore, driven by strong demand in banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) verticals. Operating margin stood at 24.8%, slightly lower than 25.1% in the previous quarter due to wage hikes and higher subcontracting costs. Sequentially, net profit rose 2.3% from Rs 13,050 crore in Q4 FY2026.

Key Business Verticals and Geographies

Growth was led by the BFSI sector, which accounts for nearly 30% of revenue, expanding 7.1% year-on-year. The North America market contributed 51% of total revenue, while Europe grew 4.5%. TCS added 12,500 employees during the quarter, taking its total workforce to 6,85,000. Attrition rate remained stable at 12.3%.

Management Commentary

"We have delivered a robust performance in Q1, driven by strong client demand and successful execution of large deals," said K Krithivasan, CEO and MD of TCS. "Our investments in AI and cloud capabilities are yielding results, helping clients accelerate their digital transformation journeys." The company also declared an interim dividend of Rs 18 per share.

Outlook and Analyst Views

Analysts expect TCS to maintain its growth trajectory in the coming quarters, supported by a strong deal pipeline and healthy IT spending. The company reported a total contract value (TCV) of $9.2 billion in Q1, up 15% year-on-year. TCS shares closed 1.8% higher on the BSE ahead of the results announcement.
