Hyderabad: Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, currently on a week-long visit to India, met Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday. During the meeting, the ridesharing giant outlined its plans to expand its presence in Hyderabad.
Expansion Plans for Hyderabad Centre of Excellence
The Uber top executive informed the Chief Minister that the company's expansion includes its existing Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Hyderabad, which currently houses 600 engineers. This was stated in a communique issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
Interest in Bharat Future City
Khosrowshahi, accompanied by Uber's Chief Business Officer Madhu Kannan, Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh, and Chief Technology Officer Praveen Nippalli Naga, also expressed interest in setting up Uber's corporate office at the upcoming Bharat Future City.
CM Suggests Parking Business
During the meeting, CM Reddy urged Uber's CEO to explore the possibility of entering the parking business in India. This suggestion comes amid mounting challenges related to traffic and parking in major cities across the country.
Uber Assures Study
According to the CMO, the Uber leadership assured the Chief Minister that they would undertake a comprehensive study on the suggestion regarding the parking business.
This meeting underscores Uber's commitment to expanding its footprint in Hyderabad and exploring new business avenues in India.
