Contract for Udhampur Airport Terminal Building Likely in August
Union Minister of State and Udhampur MP Jitendra Singh announced on Sunday that the contract for constructing the terminal building at Udhampur Airport is expected to be awarded in the second week of August. The tendering process is proceeding as scheduled, with technical bids opened on July 10.
In a post on X, Singh stated, "For the tender for construction of Airport Terminal Building, the Technical bid was opened on 10th of July. 7 agencies participated." He added that financial bids are slated to open around July 22, and the work could be awarded in the second week of August. "We are constantly following up on the issue," the minister said.
Seven Agencies Participate in Bidding
According to the update, seven agencies submitted technical bids for the project, indicating healthy competition. The award of the contract, if completed on schedule, would mark a major milestone in developing airport infrastructure in Udhampur, a key town in the Jammu region.
The minister did not disclose the project cost or the expected completion timeline for the terminal building. The development is part of broader efforts to enhance connectivity in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Udhampur Airport currently operates limited flights, and the new terminal is expected to boost passenger capacity and facilities, supporting tourism and economic growth in the region. The project is being closely monitored by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and local authorities.
