Gorakhpur University Hosts National Seminar on GST's Achievements and Future

Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University's department of commerce organized a two-day national seminar on Monday, focusing on the theme 'GST in India: Achievements, Challenges and the Way Forward'. The event was conducted with the support of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), highlighting its academic and policy significance.

Inaugural Session and Key Participants

The inaugural session took place at Shri Mahayogi Guru Gorakshnath Research Peeth on the university campus. It was chaired by the vice-chancellor, Professor Poonam Tandon, who oversaw the proceedings. Chief guest CP Agarwal and guest of honour Aditya Bharti shared their insights on the economic importance of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), emphasizing its role in India's fiscal landscape.

Professor S V Pathak, head of the commerce department, outlined the seminar's objectives and its relevance in current economic discussions. The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including:
