Income Tax Department Extends Survey at Rajasthan Restaurants Over Suspected Tax Evasion
The Income Tax Department has entered the second day of its intensive survey operation targeting three prominent restaurants in Jaipur and one establishment in Ajmer. Officials are investigating serious allegations of tax evasion, with suspicions that these businesses have manipulated and suppressed their income to artificially reduce their tax liabilities.
Survey Locations and Ongoing Investigation
The survey teams are currently active at Rosado Bar and Restaurant located on Gandhi Path, Kebabs and Curries in the Raja Park area, and The Pearl Palace situated on Ajmer Road in Jaipur. In Ajmer, the department is conducting its examination at Mango Masala Restaurant at the Swami Complex intersection.
According to an officer who spoke on condition of anonymity, "Our teams initially reached these establishments on Sunday afternoon and immediately began the thorough examination of financial records and various business documents. The investigative action resumed and continued throughout Monday morning without interruption."
Scope of Investigation and Suspected Violations
Department sources have revealed that officials suspect large-scale tax evasion and significant discrepancies in financial transactions across these restaurant operations. The investigation is comprehensive in nature, with tax officials meticulously checking multiple aspects of the businesses' financial operations.
The examination includes detailed scrutiny of account books, billing records, digital transaction details, and all other documents related to income and expenditure patterns. Additionally, officials are conducting extensive questioning of management personnel and staff members regarding business operations, revenue recording practices, and overall financial management systems.
The department's focus remains on uncovering any systematic attempts to underreport income or manipulate financial data to avoid proper tax payments. This ongoing survey represents a significant enforcement action in Rajasthan's hospitality sector, highlighting the tax department's increased vigilance regarding compliance in the restaurant industry.
