Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij has directed the Managing Director of the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) to immediately station a fire tender at the Saha Industrial Growth Centre. The order comes after a major fire broke out at a glassware factory in the area on Friday.
Minister Inspects Fire Damage
Vij visited the affected glassware factory on Saturday to assess the damage. During the visit, he was informed that no fire tender was stationed within the industrial area. Taking serious note of the issue, the Energy Minister instructed the HSIIDC Managing Director to ensure that a fire tender is deployed at the industrial centre without delay.
“A fire brigade vehicle should be stationed here immediately so that prompt action can be taken during emergencies,” he said. He further directed officials to install a borewell to ensure an adequate water supply for the fire brigade vehicle.
Nearly 300 Industrial Units at Risk
Speaking to mediapersons, Vij said the Saha Industrial Growth Centre houses nearly 300 industrial units and provides employment to a large number of workers. He said he had learned that no fire-fighting facility was available within the industrial area and had therefore taken up the matter with the HSIIDC Managing Director to ensure that a fire tender is stationed there permanently, along with a dedicated water source.
“There is sufficient space available here for parking a fire tender, and it is essential that such an arrangement be made to safeguard industries and workers from future emergencies,” he added.
Emergency Preparedness Measures
The minister emphasized the need for better emergency preparedness in industrial zones. The deployment of a fire tender and installation of a borewell are expected to significantly improve fire safety at the Saha Industrial Growth Centre. Vij assured that the state government is committed to ensuring the safety of industrial units and workers.
