In a significant escalation of industrial labor unrest in Rajasthan, over 1,500 workers of Motherson India Private Limited launched a strike outside the company's gate in the Pathredi industrial area of Bhiwadi on Tuesday. Strike Follows Violent Protests in Noida and Recent Bhiwadi Incident
This industrial action comes merely one day after workers' protests turned violent in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, signaling a spreading wave of labor discontent across northern India. The Bhiwadi strike also follows a recent demonstration at Suprajit Engineering in the same industrial area, where police resorted to a cane-charge to disperse the crowd, specifically targeting women employees. Several workers were taken into custody during that five-hour standoff, which eventually concluded with a settlement between the management, contractor, and labor representatives.
Widespread Unrest Over Inflation and Poor Working Conditions
Local sources indicate that worker unrest over salary hikes, rising inflation, and unsatisfactory working conditions has been reported in Bhiwadi and nearby industrial areas for several days. No official settlement has been reached yet, leaving the situation volatile and unresolved. The laborers at Motherson India have presented a five-point charter of demands, which includes a "reasonable salary hike" to cope with economic pressures, improved working hours, and strict action against senior officials allegedly involved in misconduct, assault, and threats against employees.

In response to the escalating situation, police forces from Chopanki, Bhiwadi, and Tapukara were swiftly deployed to the site after receiving alerts. Tapukara-Bhiwadi Tehsildar Shaitan Singh and Bhiwadi DSP Kailash Chaudhary also arrived at the scene to oversee the developments. Tehsildar Singh confirmed that talks are being actively facilitated between the management and the striking workers in an effort to broker a peaceful resolution.
DSP Kailash Chaudhary emphasized that police personnel have been strategically deployed to maintain law and order, with ongoing efforts focused on mediating discussions between the two parties. The workers have voiced serious allegations, claiming they face constant harassment and threats of termination, which have exacerbated the labor-management rift.
