Cabinet Greenlights Rs 33,660 Crore BHAVYA Scheme to Boost Manufacturing
In a major push to enhance industrial growth, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA) with a substantial outlay of Rs 33,660 crore. This ambitious scheme is designed to develop 100 plug-and-play industrial parks across India, aiming to create world-class infrastructure and unlock the nation's manufacturing potential.
Key Details of the BHAVYA Scheme
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, while briefing reporters on the Cabinet decisions, highlighted that the scheme is expected to generate approximately 15 lakh direct jobs. The initiative will span six years, from the financial year 2027 to 2031-32, with the development planned in two phases.
Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), provided further insights during a media briefing. He stated that the first phase will see the development of 50 industrial parks, with the central government offering financial support of up to Rs 1 crore per acre. These parks will range in size from 100 to 1,000 acres, ensuring scalability and flexibility for various industrial needs.
Infrastructure and Implementation
The BHAVYA scheme focuses on providing comprehensive core infrastructure to facilitate seamless operations for businesses. Key features include:
- Internal roads for efficient connectivity within the parks.
- Underground utilities to support essential services.
- Advanced drainage systems to manage water effectively.
- Common treatment facilities for environmental sustainability.
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems for digital integration.
- Administrative systems to streamline governance and support services.
This plug-and-play model is intended to reduce setup times and costs for industries, making India a more attractive destination for manufacturing investments. By fostering a conducive environment for production, the government aims to drive economic growth and position India as a global manufacturing hub.
The approval of the BHAVYA scheme underscores the government's commitment to strengthening the industrial sector and creating employment opportunities, aligning with broader economic development goals.
