Gadchiroli district stands at the brink of a major economic transformation, driven by its vast mineral wealth and growing industrial interest, according to district collector Avishyant Panda.
Mineral Wealth as Economic Catalyst
Speaking during a review meeting with a high-level Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) delegation at Gondwana University, Collector Panda emphasized that Gadchiroli's abundant mineral reserves represent the district's greatest natural asset. The region boasts significant deposits of iron ore, dolomite, quartz, copper, and limestone that could fundamentally reshape its economic landscape.
Panda noted that with appropriate industrial support and responsible development, the district is positioned for substantial growth over the coming ten years. He made these remarks while presenting Gadchiroli's industrial potential and investment roadmap at the Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd project site in Konsari, located in Chamorshi taluka.
CII Delegation Explores Collaboration Opportunities
The high-level CII team visited Gondwana University specifically to examine possibilities for deeper cooperation between industry and academic institutions. During their visit, the delegation thoroughly assessed the university's research programs, skill development initiatives, and innovation projects while engaging in productive discussions with senior faculty members.
Collector Panda highlighted Gadchiroli's geographical advantages, noting the district spans 14,412 square kilometers with approximately 70% forest cover, alongside its rich mineral deposits. He described these elements as Gadchiroli's most powerful natural advantages and emphasized that the CII delegation's visit comes at a pivotal moment for the region's long-term development prospects.
University Initiatives and Industry Partnership
At the Science & Technology Resource Centre (STRC), Manish Uttarwar, Director of Innovation, Research & Collaboration, delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing Gondwana University's various programs and initiatives.
The meeting saw participation from numerous key academic figures including Vice-Chancellor Prashant Bokare, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Shriram Kawale, Registrar Anil Hirekhan, Dean Shyam Khandare, and STRC Chief Programme Officer Swapnil Girde, along with other senior university officials.
