Harley-Davidson X440 T Launched in India at Rs 2.79 Lakh, Expands Hero Partnership
Harley-Davidson X440 T Launched: Price, Specs, Details

In a significant move to strengthen their foothold in the premium motorcycle segment, Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson have unveiled a new top-tier model in India. The motorcycle, named the Harley-Davidson X440 T, marks an expansion of their jointly developed range and carries an ex-showroom price tag starting at Rs 2.79 lakh. This launch coincides with the introduction of a refreshed cruiser lineup from the iconic American brand in the Indian market.

Power, Performance, and Platform

The heart of the Harley-Davidson X440 T remains the familiar 440cc, air-oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This powerplant, which also serves the standard X440, churns out a healthy 27 bhp of power and 38 Nm of peak torque. The bike tips the scales at 192 kg, offering a substantial road presence.

The technical underpinnings are shared with its sibling. The X440 T is built on a trellis-frame chassis, with suspension handled by a 43 mm KYB upside-down fork at the front offering 130 mm of travel. The rear employs gas-charged twin shock absorbers. The wheel setup consists of an 18-inch front and a 17-inch rear, mounted on a 1,418 mm wheelbase. The motorcycle promises decent practicality with a ground clearance of 170 mm.

Design and Styling Revisions

Where the X440 T truly distinguishes itself is in its styling, drawing inspiration from the legendary Harley-Davidson XR1200. The most noticeable change is at the rear, which features a reshaped tail section dominated by a wide, prominent rear fender. For improved comfort on longer rides, the seat has been redesigned, and the bike now comes with larger pillion grab rails.

The visual upgrades continue with a revised badge on the fuel tank identifying it as the 'X440 T', complemented by a sleek racing-style stripe along the side. While the front retains the signature look of the X440, the T variant adds bar-end mirrors and blacked-out front fenders, replacing the colour-matched unit on the regular model. The single-sided exhaust has also been subtly reworked for a sharper aesthetic. The motorcycle will be available in four colour options: Black, Red, Blue, and White.

Availability and Market Position

With this launch, the Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson partnership aims to capture a larger slice of the growing premium motorcycle audience in India. The X440 T sits at the top of the X440 range, offering more distinctive, sportier styling for enthusiasts seeking a unique identity. Interested customers can already book the bike online or by visiting their nearest dealership. The company has announced that deliveries are expected to commence shortly, adding a new flavour to the cruiser segment.

The collaboration continues to bear fruit, demonstrating a focused strategy to blend Harley-Davidson's iconic design language with local manufacturing and market expertise from Hero MotoCorp. The X440 T is a clear attempt to offer varied choices within the same platform, catering to different consumer tastes within the premium space.
