The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), formerly known as Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), has unveiled plans to develop nine new sectors in Karnal. This initiative aims to cater to the growing urbanization and demand for residential and commercial properties in the region.
Details of the New Sectors
The proposed sectors will be developed on approximately 1,500 acres of land acquired by the authority. These sectors are strategically located along the Karnal-Panipat highway and other major roads, ensuring easy connectivity. The sectors will be numbered from Sector 36 to 44, adding to the existing infrastructure of the city.
Housing and Commercial Opportunities
Each sector will feature a mix of residential plots, group housing projects, and commercial areas. The development plan includes provisions for parks, schools, hospitals, and community centers to ensure a self-sustained living environment. HSVP officials stated that the sectors would be developed in phases, with basic amenities like water supply, sewage systems, and roads being prioritized.
Impact on Real Estate
Real estate experts believe that the announcement will boost property prices in Karnal, which is already witnessing increased demand due to its proximity to the national capital and industrial hubs. The new sectors are expected to attract both end-users and investors, driving economic growth in the region.
Government's Vision
The Haryana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, has been focusing on planned urban development across the state. The Karnal expansion is part of a larger strategy to decongest cities like Chandigarh and Gurugram by promoting growth in smaller cities. HSVP has also been directed to ensure transparency in the allotment of plots and timely completion of projects.
HSVP's chief administrator, while addressing the media, emphasized that the authority would adhere to sustainable development practices. Rainwater harvesting, green belts, and solar energy utilization are some of the eco-friendly features planned for these sectors.
Timeline and Implementation
The first phase of development is expected to commence within six months, with the initial focus on land leveling and infrastructure creation. The entire project is slated for completion over the next five to seven years. HSVP has invited objections and suggestions from the public regarding the sector plans, which will be considered before final approval.
This development is seen as a significant step towards transforming Karnal into a modern urban center while preserving its historical and cultural essence.
