Hyundai Motor India Unveils Updated 2026 Exter Facelift
Hyundai Motor India has officially launched the new 2026 Hyundai Exter facelift in the Indian automotive market. This significant update marks the first facelift for the popular micro SUV since its original debut in 2023, bringing a comprehensive package of cosmetic enhancements, advanced new features, improved safety systems, and various other refinements.
Pricing and Market Positioning
The 2026 Hyundai Exter is now competitively priced between Rs 5.79 lakh and Rs 9.41 lakh, with both figures representing ex-showroom prices. This strategic pricing ensures the vehicle continues to compete directly with key rivals in the segment, including the Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and Toyota Taisor.
Exterior and Interior Design Updates
The 2026 Exter receives substantial exterior modifications, featuring a wider front fascia, a revised bumper design, and a new black radiator grille that enhances its bold stance. The vehicle rides on new 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, while the rear section showcases a redesigned tailgate, updated C-pillar garnish, and a stylish wing-type spoiler.
Inside the cabin, the overall layout remains familiar but now boasts a sophisticated dual-tone navy and grey color theme. A 3D carbon-pattern dashboard finish adds a premium touch, complemented by a D-cut steering wheel, metal pedals, new seat upholstery, and a folding driver armrest for improved comfort.
Enhanced Features and Safety Systems
Hyundai has equipped the 2026 Exter with several segment-first features, including a built-in dashcam, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a rear Type-C USB port. The vehicle also offers over 60 Bluelink connected features, ensuring advanced connectivity and convenience for modern drivers.
Additional notable features include an electric sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, over-the-air updates for maps and infotainment systems, and more than 300 embedded voice commands that function without an internet connection.
Safety remains a paramount focus, with the Exter now offering over 45 safety features, of which 30 are standard across all variants. Key standard safety equipment includes electronic stability control, hill-start assist control, and six airbags, providing comprehensive protection for occupants.
Variant Options and Practical Improvements
The updated Exter is available in six distinct variants: HX2, HX4, HX4+, HX6, HX8, and HX10. Customers can choose from two new color options: Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte, expanding the personalization choices.
Practical enhancements include driver seat height adjustment and adjustable rear headrests now being standard across all variants. Petrol versions maintain a generous 391 litres of boot space, while the CNG variant features an underbody-mounted spare wheel as standard, offering 225 litres of boot capacity.
Powertrain and Performance Specifications
The 2026 Hyundai Exter continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 83 horsepower and 114 Nm of torque. This engine is available with both manual and AMT transmission options, and Hyundai emphasizes that it remains the only model in its segment with a four-cylinder configuration.
A CNG variant with a dual-cylinder setup is also offered, catering to fuel-efficient and eco-conscious buyers.
