Hyundai India's Record FY25, 26 New Models by 2030

Hyundai Motor India has concluded the financial year 2024–25 with an unprecedented performance, marking its strongest showing in the country to date. The automotive giant manufactured an impressive 7.63 lakh vehicles during this period and successfully sold 7.62 lakh units, setting new benchmarks across production, sales, and after-sales operations.

SUV Dominance and Rural Market Expansion

Sport utility vehicles (SUVs) emerged as the primary growth catalyst for Hyundai in the Indian market. This segment contributed a substantial 69 percent to the company's domestic sales in FY25. Notably, the Hyundai Creta maintained a commanding position, securing over 30 percent market share within the mid-size SUV category.

Hyundai's current India portfolio includes popular models such as the Exter, Venue, Venue N Line, Creta, Creta N Line, and the Alcazar. Beyond urban centers, the company witnessed significant traction in rural markets, particularly for its compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles. Sales of CNG models in rural areas surged by 33 percent year-on-year, with rural penetration climbing to 15 percent in FY25.

Manufacturing and Luxury Brand Prospects

In a strategic move to bolster production capabilities, Hyundai has initiated engine manufacturing at its Talegaon facility in Pune. Vehicle production at this plant is slated to commence in the third quarter of FY26. Upon achieving full operational status, Hyundai's annual production capacity in India will escalate to 1.074 million units.

Additionally, Hyundai is actively evaluating the potential introduction of Genesis, its global luxury brand, to the Indian market. This consideration aligns with the company's broader strategy to cater to diverse consumer segments.

Connected Car Technology and Future Roadmap

Connected car technology remains a pivotal focus area for Hyundai. Since launching connected mobility solutions in 2019, the company has equipped 12 out of its 14 models with Bluelink technology. The adoption of connected vehicles has skyrocketed, accounting for 23.2 percent of Hyundai's retail sales in FY25, a dramatic increase from 6.2 percent in FY19–20.

Looking forward, Hyundai has unveiled an ambitious product strategy, planning to introduce 26 new models and upgrades by FY2030. This comprehensive lineup will encompass six electric vehicles (EVs), 20 internal combustion engine (ICE) models, and additional hybrid offerings.

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure and Export Growth

To facilitate the transition to electric mobility, Hyundai intends to install 600 fast public chargers across India over the next six to seven years. More than 100 of these chargers are already operational. The company's charger management system currently supports over 14,000 charging points nationwide.

On the export front, Hyundai has cumulatively shipped 3.7 million vehicles to more than 150 countries. Exports demonstrated robust growth, increasing by 21 percent year-on-year in April 2025. For FY26, Hyundai aims to achieve export growth of 7 to 8 percent, with a strategic emphasis on markets in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
