Idco Chairperson Conducts Field Inspection for Proposed Industrial Parks in Athagarh
In a significant move to bolster industrial growth in Odisha, Usha Padhee, the chairperson of the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco), visited Kuspangi and Bali villages in Athagarh tehsil on Friday. The visit aimed to review plans for proposed industrial parks, with Padhee leading a comprehensive field inspection of identified land parcels.
Assessing Infrastructure and Land Availability
Accompanied by Cuttack collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde and senior officials from the district administration and Idco, the team meticulously evaluated land availability and critical infrastructure aspects. Key factors under review included road connectivity, power supply, water availability, and other essential utilities necessary for establishing industrial clusters. Officials stated that this site inspection was crucial for finalizing feasibility studies and detailed planning to ensure the parks are developed efficiently.
During the assessment, Padhee emphasized that developing well-planned industrial parks is central to the state's strategy for attracting investment, strengthening the industrial ecosystem, and ensuring balanced regional development. She highlighted the strong potential of the proposed park at Kuspangi to draw new industries and generate substantial employment opportunities for local youth, thereby fostering economic empowerment in the region.
Focus on Investment and Employment Generation
Padhee articulated the vision behind these initiatives, stating, "The aim is to create industry-ready infrastructure so that investors can set up units quickly. These parks will act as growth centres and boost economic activity in the region." She stressed the need for close coordination between Idco and the district administration to expedite planning and ensure timely implementation of the project, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving developmental goals.
In response, Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde affirmed the district administration's full cooperation to facilitate the project. He said, "The administration is working closely with Idco to complete land-related processes and ensure necessary infrastructure support so that the proposed industrial parks can be developed in a time-bound manner." Shinde added that these industrial parks are expected to play a key role in strengthening industrial growth in Cuttack district while creating new employment avenues in the Athagarh region, thereby contributing to overall economic progress.
The proposed industrial parks are part of a broader effort to enhance Odisha's industrial landscape, with a focus on sustainable development and job creation. By addressing infrastructure gaps and streamlining processes, the initiative aims to make the region more attractive to investors, ultimately driving long-term economic benefits for the local community and the state at large.
